Dr. First honored by Vermont Medical Society

The Vermont Medical Society honored Lewis First, M.D., FAAP, with its Distinguished Service Award during the 203rd VMS annual meeting held Nov. 5, in Burlington, Vt. 

Dr. First, of the University of Vermont Medical Center and The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont, received the award for his outstanding work as Chair of the Larner College of Medicine at UVM Department of Pediatrics and Chief of the UVM Children’s Hospital, as well as a profound influence in encouraging a generation of University of Vermont medical students to pursue vocations as pediatricians.

The Distinguished Service Award, the highest award VMS can bestow upon one of its members, is given on the basis of meritorious service in the science and art of medicine and for outstanding contributions to the medical profession, its organizations, and the welfare of the public.
