Dr. Hagan honored with national AAP award

Vermont Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics Vermont Chapter member Dr. Joseph Hagan received the Clifford G. Grulee Award at the American Academy of Pediatrics’ (AAP) National Conference & Exhibition in Chicago on Sept. 18, 2017. The award, one of the highest bestowed by the AAP, recognizes outstanding service to the Academy.

Joseph F. Hagan, Jr., MD, FAAP is clinical Professor in Pediatrics at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and the University of Vermont Children’s Hospital. Dr. Hagan practices primary care pediatrics at Hagan, Rinehart and Connolly Pediatricians in Burlington, Vt.

Dr. Hagan is past-chairperson of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Psychosocial Aspects of Child and Family Health and he chaired the Academy’s Task Force on Terrorism. He has served as an advisory board member to the Maternal and Child Health Benefits Study of the National Business Group on Health. He chairs the Vermont Citizen’s Advisory Board (VCAB) for the Vermont Agency of Human Services Department for Children and Families. 

A contributor to the four major pediatrics textbooks published in the U.S., Dr. Hagan co-edited the third and fourth editions of The Bright Futures Guidelines for Health Supervision of Infants, Children and Adolescents, Fourth Edition, published by the American Academy of Pediatrics and designated as the standard for preventive care for youth up to age 21 in United States health reform.
